Installing power for an air source heat pump
Installation
We installed an AC rotary isolator ready for an air source heat pump. The distribution for the property was in the garage, where the heat pump was due to be installed. We ran the supply using 6mm twin and cpc cable, from a new distribution board. Specialist components in the consumer unit were used such as a type “B” residual current device, and a type “C” miniature circuit breaker, along with a surge protection device. This was all done per request of the heat pump installers.
Air source heat pumps
Air source heat pumps are an alternative method of heating up the water used in a property for heating and hot water. They take heat from the air around the pump, then distribute it throughout the property. They are often chosen as they are a sustainable and reliable way of heating your home, using no fossil fuels. Given what we know about climate change, it is inevitable that the cost of sustaining gas boilers will increase. As a result, despite the increase power demand of running one, an air source heat pump is a cost-effective and future-proof solution to heating needs. The property to which this heat pump was installed also has solar panels, which work alongside the heat pump to reduce the energy costs, along with creating a green hub of clean heating and power.
