Preparation
This kitchen working space was being completely redone, and the first thing needed in preparation was a new cooker and hob supply. A cable was run from the consumer unit in white plastic trunking, behind, then underneath the new cabinets.
Many of the existing sockets were also moved. This involved chasing, where a channel is taken out of the wall for the new cables to sit. This was done using a combination of an angle grinder, SDS drill with chisel bits, hand chisels and a lump hammer. This kind of work creates lots of dust, so it was important that the correct PPE was worn. A face mask like this one is always a good idea: https://www.screwfix.com/p/jsp-force-8-medium-mask-respirator-with-press-to-check-filters-p3/1863f
A light switch was also recessed into a spacer board.
Installation
After the kitchen cabinets had been installed, the hob and oven were connected, and the isolaters were installed in a cupboard next to it. Care is always taken with electric hobs not to scratch the glass surface during installation. The face plates for the sockets were also added, making sure all the correct connections were made.
